1.        MAKE

Passive: ─

Function: to force someone to do something.

Examples:

2.      HAVE

Active: [S + have + O₁ + V₁ + O₂]

Passive: [S + have + O₂ + V₃]

Function: to ask someone to do something.

Examples

Active:

·        Peter had his friend return the book to the library.

·        I had the plumber repair the leak.

Passive:

·        Peter had the book returned to the library.

·        I had the leak repaired.

3.      GET

Active: [S + get + O₁ + to infinitive + O₂]

Passive: [S + get + O₂ + V₃]

Function: to persuade someone to do something.

Examples

Active:

·        I will get mother to buy a new book tomorrow.

·        I got my brother to repair my watch.

Passive:

·        I will get a new book bought tomorrow.

·        I got my watch repaired.
